Canine Lovers Reveal Their Dream Purebred Dogs, And Some Responses Are Just Too Wholesome

After you've finally decided to own a dog, one question remains: which breed should I get? The quickest way to answer this question is to choose from dogs that fit your lifestyle.

If you're someone who thrives on activity and embraces the great outdoors, finding a breed that matches your energy level is essential. Imagine having a loyal running, hiking, or yoga buddy by your side - it's like having a perpetual adventure partner!

Considering an active dog means welcoming a lifelong friend into your life, one that will thrive on your shared adventures. Remember, dedicating extra time to cater to their needs is crucial, but the boundless love and happiness they bring into your life make every moment worthwhile.

If you're seeking serenity as your top priority, experts recommend steering clear of working breeds or their descendants—such as huskies and sheepdogs. Dogs bred for work tend to crave activity, so they may not find contentment lounging on your sofa all day.

It's important to note that while breeding plays a significant role in temperament, age does too. Experts present the benefits of adopting a senior dog, emphasizing that they often bring tranquility, good manners, and swift adjustment to a new family dynamic, making it a win-win situation.

For a canine companion more inclined towards leisurely naps, cozy snuggles, and leisurely strolls, consider one of these wonderfully relaxed breeds.

If you're looking for ideas on which breed to get, how about looking at the responses to this Quora question?

If you could own any purebred dog from anywhere around the world past or present, cost and transportation are both taken care of - what breed would you own? What draws you to that breed?

This dog lover is just admirable.

Fitst of all I would not buy a dog. I will only get dogs from a certfied rescue group. I am Canadian born but have lived in Mexico for many years.

Before I came to Mexico I went to one of the animal rescues and got the cutest Little purebred ShiTzu. I dont remembet what I paid for her but she was worth a million.

When I moved to Mexico there were no spade or neuter clinics. About 8 years

Ago an American or Canadian opened the firsy clinic which was for Mexicans only. I volunteered at that clinic.

They are what we call street dogs but thank goodness there are not very many now. I had to put Cuddles to puppy heaven when she was 15.

I ended up rescuing 9 dogs and i still have 3 of those that I rescued.

I am 81 years young and am in pretty good shape.

I would resue many more but I think I will keep my 3 right now. My dogs have been the best company I could ever want.

They give you nothing but love if you treat them with the love and respect that they deserve.

This dog lover wants a superior GSD.

I would want a well-proven German Shepherd Dog from one of the old West German / Czech working lines… a +/- 2 year-old… not a puppy…

Why…???

I’ve been a GSD fanboy since I was a kid, and tho I have had many great ones in my life,I want one superior dog before I’m too old to measure up to the demands….

This dog lover from the US has considered their needs and wants an American Water Spaniel.

I live in the US, and I could basically do this. Most breeds are present in the US or Europe and if I was willing to pay for it, we could technically afford just about any reasonable dog even if we imported from Europe or something.

The dog that fits our needs, lifestyle, and goals right now is the American Water Spaniel and that will probably be our next dog.

I wouldn’t mind a classic Labrador before the working-show split - something in the 55lbs range that had beauty, brains, and bird-sense instead of making me pick at most two of the three and replacing the other with poor structure, poor temperament, or lack of breed distinctives.

Coton de Tulear's personality will remind you of the sweetness of cotton candy.

Coton de Tulare. The three I’ve met were real sweet.

They don’t shed, they have hair that you need to trim often. Wry nice personalities.

GSDs are the most coveted, but this user wants something specific.

German Shepherd Dog well a bitch from a companion line and fully genetically checked for hipdip and other health issues As to why i grew up with them and to me they are the very best dogs in the world.

They work their way into your heart and never leave it.

I could carry on but you have to know the soft as butter goofballs for yourself,

An owner declares that their current pet would be their last dog.

I currently own the dog I wanted to compliment MY life and MY needs. I cannot, at this moment think of a dog I would want.

Finding dogs has never been an issue for me, I have been doing it all my life, I have access to people in Europe and the States, but, again, currently, I am happy with my dog and I believe he will be my last dog ever.

It's difficult when a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) experiences hip problems. That's why this user has specifically mentioned that they want their GSD to be free from the same health issue.

if you could absolutely guarantee me a german shepherd wouldn’t have hip dysplasia I would pay a lot. but they all do and it’s absolutely horrible.

my favorite breed but I can’t deal with that again. my next favorite is mastiff/dane mix, daniff. but they don’t live long.

my next pup is gonna be a straight up mutt…probably something with staffy in it. pure breds are inbred and unhealthy

Dog owners will always have the final say in choosing the breed they want. However, it's crucial for them to ensure that the dog's temperament aligns with their needs and lifestyle.

If the dog's activity level doesn't match the owner's lifestyle, the dog may end up being rehomed or surrendered to a shelter. Therefore, let's make responsible choices when selecting a dog breed.
