An ill-prepared dog owner, or any pet owner for that matter, will make for a bad dog owner. There is no way you can fulfill your dog's needs without researching their specific breed.

You will do yourself and your pup a disservice if your sole criterion is how adorable they are. Specific dogs suit specific people after all.

Your lifestyle will largely dictate what kind of dog you can appropriately own. You can't keep a herding dog in a tiny apartment and expect it to behave.

These are just some of the things an aspiring dog owner should consider before adopting one. It doesn't look like a couple on Reddit is ready to become dog owners when they're too busy bickering about what breed they should get.
