Woman Reports Three Male Colleagues And Gets Them Fired For Making A "Hot List" To Rank The Attractiveness Of All The Women In Their Department

An overheard bar conversation led to the termination of three employees. Twenty out of their 30-person department attended the after-work drinks organized by their supervisor.

The OP who overheard the conversation was rounding the corner from the bathroom hallway. She heard one of her male coworkers say her name.

She decided to eavesdrop on their conversation. The three guys were making a "hot list" to rank the female employees in their department.

OP was upset and equally disturbed by her colleagues' inappropriate discussion. She was friends with two of the three guys, which made their chat even more upsetting.

HR informed OP that they had a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior when she reported the incident. The three men involved in the conversation were fired the following morning.

OP was surprised by HR's decision to fire the guys. She did admit that she knew deep down that this was a possibility when she made the report.

No one knows that it was OP who reported them. She heard some of their coworkers refer to the person who disclosed to HR as a "snitch."

OP wondered if she should have just confronted her coworkers that night. She could have told them how their discussion made her feel instead of going straight to human resources.

Did OP overreact by immediately going to HR instead of talking to her colleagues first?

OP was correct not to confront her coworkers on the night of the incident. Going to HR was the right call. What happened after that wasn't really OP's fault.

OP did the right thing. It was shocking how many Redditors thought OP overreacted to the "hot list" or accused her for getting upset because she ranked low.

As if women exist to appeal to and earn men's approval. Some Redditors even accused OP of being a sensitive snowflake who makes it difficult for men to work with women.

We are still curious why OP thought she should report the people who messaged her on Reddit to her company's HR. Did she figure out that some of them were her coworkers?
