Delusional Client Was Surprised That Getting A Tattoo Costs Money, Artist Shares Their Conversation Online

To be an artist in this world means you have to be adaptive to the changing tides of the industry, as money isn't constantly flowing here. Only a few people are privileged enough to do art in their career because most of us have been taught that money is concentrated in the maths and sciences path.

This is maybe why not a lot of people really take art seriously, and they kind of view these things as merely hobbies that are used to pass the time. Working as an artist also exposes you to all kinds of clients, including, and inevitably, the ones who seem to make anything as an excuse to pay for the services rendered for them.

This happens mostly with artists that do commissions—canvas paintings, digital art, and in this particular case we're about to tackle tattoos. Tattoos are a great way for people to visually express themselves, and artists help them bring their vision and planned designs into life by combining their skills and talents in making sure that the output is up to par; given that tattoos are permanent and this craft does not really welcome any room for mistakes (laser removals are expensive, duh!).

Given the precision and skill that tattooing needs, it's not really a surprise that it costs a lot. But what's surprising is, that some people are actually hell-bent on believing that tattoos are just given for free, and their skin is just a free canvas for these artists to practice on.

This exact situation happened to u/rockpaperpowerfist on Reddit, who shared a series of photos showing their conversation with a client who actually thought getting a tattoo didn't require any money. Read on to find out the whole story!

It's mind-boggling to think that some people are just shamelessly asking professionals to get their work for free, because they only consider it as their hobby since they "love their job."

Take a look at these exchange between a tattoo artist and a supposedly potential client, who ended up revealing they thought tattoos are done for free.

"You lost me at money," they said.

The client seems to have difficulty grasping the fact that artists, even though they do love their job, have bills to pay, too.

Annoyingly enough, the client seems intent on getting that free tattoo.

It's simple:

Most artists who are making a profit out of their works have encountered at least one potential client that tries to get their way and ask for something for free. It's sad that there are still a lot of people that don't really know the value of art, and they just see it as a mere hobby.
