For billions of people worldwide, consuming news via television, radio, or the internet is a daily habit. Back when we were primitive, tribesmen would request returning scouts for their observations about what was going on in the surrounding village and in nature.
Years ago, people excitedly awaited the daily release of various editions of newspapers despite not having access to the internet. So no, the act of consuming news is not new; rather, it has only gotten more prevalent, and we have an interesting one for you today.
While Americans dealt with the apparently "unsurvivable" Hurricane Helene in the Western Hemisphere, Nanning, China, saw a less fatal but still unusual event. On a bright Tuesday morning, the city in Southern China saw what some have dubbed a "poo-cano," with videos of the incident going viral on X (formerly Twitter) in the days following the strange event.
To put things in perspective, the feces-filled tornado wasn't some recently found natural calamity that we should all be terrified of; rather, it was one of the worst-case situations that could result from a sewage pipe bursting close to a major roadway during the day. Although no one was hurt in the explosion according to the authorities, the eruption was so strong that a large piece of heavy construction equipment is believed to have overturned at the scene.
A very unpleasant morning drive resulted from the pipe erupting
This is because it produced a huge brown cloud that not only obscured motorists' and motorcycle riders' perspectives on the congested street but also poured down human excrement on them and their cars.
DashcamFortunately, none of the individuals who had to endure this strange event were seriously hurt, although many cars sustained significant damage as a result. Furthermore, the affected commuters found it difficult to get rid of the stains and odors left on the automobiles and motorcycles, as you would probably imagine.
Online viewers of the "poo-cano" clip were quick to sympathize with both the persons who were directly involved in the tragedy and the folks who would probably have to cope with the fallout.

Jam pressAs usual, people online dropped their thoughts about the incident
In reaction to a dash cam video showing a car coated in human excrement, one X user wrote, "The poor car wash employees when this car pulls up."
An additional person expressed a similar thought: "First stop: car wash... They’re definitely having a bad day."
Another commentator shared his expectations as headed into the video saying, “I really thought he’d make it past the explosion when it happened. Then, it started raining crap.”

The pressure test that city officials were doing, which obviously went awry in a way that no one could have predicted, is what caused the pipe to burst. The enormous amounts of human waste that now blanketed the city streets were taken care of up by a cleanup squad.
But then, the 33-foot cloud of excrement falling from the sky is probably something the inhabitants of Nanning won't be forgetting (or stop smelling) any time soon.
