No matter how inspired someone is to shed pounds and get fit, the path can be long and arduous, especially for those who live in the media spotlight while doing so. But there are so many famous celebrities’ weight loss tales that are incredibly inspiring, if only because they remind us of what we, as people, are capable of when we put our minds to it.

Don’t get it wrong: everyone should be the size that makes them feel the most satisfied. But for some of these celebrities, that means going to the gym and changing their diet (or even having surgery), and many of them have sincerely stayed focused and put in the effort.

We’ve seen a lot of celebrities lose weight over the years, whether it’s for a movie role or for personal reasons. Adele’s recent transformation has caused people to take a second look when they see her on stage, but she’s far from the first celebrity to do so.

Jordin Sparks lost more than 50 pounds a few years ago. In an interview, she stated that after her health deteriorated, she resolved never to feel that way again and began taking “baby steps” toward a healthier lifestyle.
