Hilarious Cats Are Using Parking Bumpers As Pillows

Twitter user Ijnaoba1927 from Japan noticed some neighborhood cats resting their little heads on parking bumpers. He thought it was amusing and shared the photos of the silly cats.

He did not expect that it is a beginning of a trend, or that cats actually do that quite often. Since then, this thread got more than 1 million likes and 268k comments and retweets.

People from all over the world are sharing photos of cats using parking bumpers as pillows. Ingrid Johnson, a cat behaviorist, says that it's just a matter of comfort: "Just like humans, cats are no strangers to seeking out comfort and they may choose to simply rest their head because it is there and easily accessible."

But is there more to it? Cat lovers everywhere are curious.

Cat behavior expert Pam Johnson-Bennett stated: “When cats head bunt, they’re creating a communal scent in a free-roaming universe. Cats recognize each other by scent first and foremost.”

“I would be willing to bet if something soft and cozy were provided as an option; they would choose that over a parking bumper, but if they are an indoor/outdoor cat or a feral cat, they are essentially using this as a pillow!” Ingrid clarified.

The feline expert added that cats also love the sun and heat. “Concrete often heats up and provides a nice warm place to sunbathe.”

When asked if cats have some positions they prefer, she responded, “This is absolutely an individual preference but also based on circumstance and their environment at the time.”
