Redditor Threatens To Take The Family’s Cat To A Shelter After Divorce
It seems like no one wants to take care of the poor cat.

A lot of times when a family decides to adopt a pet, no one in the family forms a strong bond with the pet so it usually ends up with the pet being mistreated because there's no one willing to put in the extra time. Problems arise when the kids move out of the family home and if they don't take the pet with them for whatever reason, it stays home with the parents who don't want to put in the time needed to properly care for the cat.
When things like this happen, you have to feel bad for the pet because it lives in a home where it's not receiving the unconditional love it's prepared to give its owners. This type of situation is what this Redditor found herself in after she divorced her husband and everyone went their separate ways, leaving the cat in the hands of OP who didn't want to take care of it.
Her husband didn't want anything to do with the cat after the divorce and her 2 daughters who ended up living together promised her that they would take care of the cat but they just needed more time. OP waited 2 years for the daughters to show up and take the cat in, but they never appeared so she had no choice but to threaten them that she was going to take the cat to a shelter.
She told them that they had 2 months to come and get the cat or she was going to end up in a shelter, but after 2 months of waiting, the daughters didn't show up. They left OP with no choice but to find a new home for the cat, but she didn't take it to a shelter as she said.
It looked like the daughters never cared about the cat because they would never ask how the cat is doing, but OP is unsure about her actions so she turned to Reddit to see if she did the right thing. Scroll down to read the entire story and see what other Redditors commented on the thread.
OP hated the cat but she still took care of it alone for more than 2 years because no one else wanted to be bothered.

u/LenaballerinaIt seems like most people agree with this take.
u/mysterescUnreliable narrator.
u/Iwassayingboourns77The cat deserves a proper home where it'll be loved.
u/wolfpupowerInteresting take.
u/astropastrogirlIt's sad to see that no one wanted anything to do with the poor cat and it seems unfair to the daughters to keep OP waiting and force the cat to live in a non-loving home. Redditors had lots of differing opinions in the comments, but we want to know how you feel about this.
