Original Owner Wants Her Cat Back After Redditor Adopts Her From Shelter

Everyone knows that the bond between humans and animals is different from any other bond because it's nothing but pure unconditional love that should never fade. It's hard to imagine that someone could abandon their little fur baby unless there's no other option.

The main thing you have to keep in mind when deciding to adopt a pet is that you have to be ready to take care of that pet for the rest of their lives because it's the least you can do for them.

They're time and money-consuming but there's no price too big for the love they'll provide you because no one else can provide that type of unconditional love that lasts a lifetime.

Something we've seen quite often is the case where people will abandon or lose their pet and then after months have passed, they'll see their pet on social media or elsewhere and demand that their pet is returned to them.

It's a delicate situation for everyone involved because the pet has a new home and life now and because so much time has passed, it isn't fair to take them away from their new home.

This is the situation that this Reddit user found themselves in after adopting a cat she saw at an animal shelter where she went to volunteer and get some good old-fashioned cat therapy.

The shelter tried contacting the cat's previous owners for days before they let OP adopt her, but no one was answering so she went ahead and adopted the poor kitty.

Since she lived in a small town, all it took was a post on social media to get the attention of the cat's original owner who demanded that she returns the cat to her old home.

OP refused and she believes she's doing the right thing, but she still turned to Reddit to get some more opinions on the matter.

OP was feeling low so she decided to visit the local shelter for some good old cat therapy, and that's where she met her cat, Zuzu.

After posting Zuzu on social media, the original owner contacted her to claim ownership but OP refused to give her the cat.

OP believes she's doing the right thing but is still conflicted because managing the relationship with the original owner is going to be hard in a small town.

Well, what do you think? Situations like this are always delicate because you don't want to take someone else's cat but there's a reason the cat was in the shelter in the first place.

The people of Reddit took OP's side, but we want to know if you have a different opinion.
