Dad Puts Daughter's Cat Up For Adoption While She Was In A Hospital For A Month Because "It's Just A Cat"

Explaining the kind of relationship you have with your pet to others is usually no easy task. Sometimes, people just cannot fathom that some manage to form deep bonds and beautiful relationships with their pets and completely dismiss the whole idea. 

It's something pet owners often find themselves forced to explain to people after they attempt to belittle or dismiss the relationship they have with their pets. You never want to leave your pets with these people since there's a big chance they could just get rid of them whichever way they see fit.

It's always important to make sure your pet is well looked after. Pet owners should also have a vigorous plan for what happens to their pets if they are temporarily unable to care for them. 

A Redditor who later deleted her account made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole subReddit where she explained how her dad put her cat up for adoption while she was sick in the hospital. The user was shocked by the news after leaving the hospital and didn't know how to feel about the situation, especially how her dad handled it.

OP's dad could have considered many other options before giving the cat away.

It's a terrible thing to do to someone without at least consulting with them first.

"What your dad did makes me so damn mad. So. Damn. Mad."

That's something most people wouldn't be ready to forgive.

Some people are just heatless.

The dad's reason for getting rid of the cat is not valid enough.

All pet owners need to be aware of this.

OP's cat could be up for adoption somewhere.

It might be too late for that.

OP was forced to deal with two mentally draining things at once.

The dad could have found a foster parent until his daughter had left he hospital.

People have different perceptions of how pets deserve to be treated.

"If the cat was chipped she should have been able to follow up on that pretty much at any time."

OP can still try to get her cat back.

"It's important that you're grateful for the things he did help you with."

OP's dad managed things poorly while his daughter was away at the hospital. The alternative options could have helped keep track of the cat, but he wasn't interested in that.
