There are multiple cultures in the world, and with that, comes different people with different views and beliefs.

In countries like the United States, where you’d find different races, it’s increasingly important that people of other races learn about one another. This will help navigate relationships and ensure that no one gets offended by the other.

However, that is not always for multiple reasons, including genuine ignorance and rigidity.

While some people genuinely want to learn about other cultures, others cannot simply fathom why their words or actions may offend different cultures. This has caused outrage amongst different people living together.

We found a Redditor refusing to be a part of that conflict, and she would much rather her family do the same too.

A 15-year-old shared on the AITA subreddit that her mom and brother had recently started calling their dog ‘Beaner.’

Her friend then told her it was a racial slur against Mexicans. She had passed the information to her family, yet they decided to continue calling the dog by that name.

This confused the Redditor, as she didn’t know whether to leave them or press for a change.

"NTA. Of course they are wrong to use a slur, especially in an area where it offends people."

"Not the asshole - that sounds like a situation where you probably shouldn't be calling your dog that."

"I'm sorry, but there is no way they don't know that. This is a thing racist people do."

"Would the foster organization be willing to be involved - it might not be a "selling point" for prospective adopters to have a dog presented this way."

"Being racist where no one can see is still racist."

It’s never okay to use racial slurs, whether it's in public where everyone can hear or in secret where you think you can evade the consequences.

Other Redditors in the comments section believe that OP is not the A-hole in this situation. According to them, the real A-holes are her mom and brother, who refuse to change, despite being corrected.

They advised OP to stand her ground and press for her family to make a change.
