Man Steals His Sister's LEGO Collection For His Kids To Play With And Then Calls Her Cheap For Not Giving The PS5 She Was Originally Planning On Gifting Them

We are taught basic etiquette and boundaries as children. Phrases like "don't talk when your mouth is full," are drilled repeatedly until they become second nature to us.

These simple lessons eventually become habits that we bring well into adulthood. They are considerate behaviors that put us into the category of civilized human beings.

Another thing adults shouldn't be reminded of is respecting other people's property. Especially if you are a guest in someone else's home — rummaging through their stuff is frowned upon and would get you uninvited for future visits.

Some family members do not think this rule applies to them. Our parents are the main breakers of this rule, they believe it's okay to inspect the contents of our house when they come over.

This 28-year-old's parents live with her, so the boundaries are more blurred than ordinary. They live in the basement of her house which was converted into a suite and they usually respect each other's spaces.

Not long ago, her brother and his family went to OP's house for their annual visit. They typically stay in the basement suite but this year, OP's parents asked her if the visiting family can stay at the main part of the house.

OP said her brother and his wife can stay in the other room but the kids will be sleeping in the basement. Everyone agreed and was happy with this compromise.

OP has an office at home where she keeps the LEGO mini figures she collects

OP is neurodivergent and building LEGO kits help her relax. She donates the rest of the kits once she's done with them but keeps the mini figures for herself.

Her brother knew she has an unopened LEGO kit in her office and asked if his kids could play with it because they were bored

OP said no. When she got home that Sunday after grocery shopping, she noticed that several of her sets were missing and asked her parents what happened to them.

They said that her brother took a couple of them for his kids to play with since they were just toys. OP was upset by the fact that he went into her office without permission, went against her wishes, and basically stole things she owned.

The thing is, OP is very generous aunt towards her niece and nephew. She gave each of them a Nintendo Switch for their birthdays this year.

She planning to give them a PS5 bundle she bought during this visit but because of what happened, she gifted them the LEGO sets they opened instead. Both kids were perfectly happy with that.

Her brother? Not so much. Their mom had already told him that the gift was supposed to be a PS5.

He asked OP if she had another gift for them but OP said no. This upset her brother even more.

He accused OP of punishing his kids because he took the toys from her office. He said OP was a cheap and spiteful b**tch.

It's her PS5 now. Her brother would absolutely lose it when he receives the coffee shop gift card for Christmas. Boss move from OP!

Calling OP a b*tch isn't exactly an attitude of a person who learned their lesson

OP handled the situation beautifully despite her own anger towards her brother. She didn't make the kids feel bad and actually made them happy when she gave the LEGO sets. It's just her brother who was acting petty.

He dismissed OP's wishes because he doesn't respect her LEGO-building hobby but that's all on him. The kids had nothing to do with it.

OP feels the same way and doesn't think it's the kids' fault their father is a disrespectful person

OP is surrounded by people who do not take her boundaries seriously — their parents are enabling her brother and he is a thieving house guest

After a tantrum like that, OP's brother shouldn't attempt to visit her in the future but he probably still believes he didn't do or say anything wrong

That's the real reason why he was so upset. The PS5 may have been for the kids but OP's brother couldn't wait to get his paws on it.

He didn't even feel the need to apologize. He went full stupid and even insulted her in her own home.

Anyone, even neurotypical people, would be upset if anyone went into their room or office without permission and took something despite being told not to

OP is such a sweet person but nobody should ever make her feel bad for collecting LEGOs and any other toy she enjoys

The kids didn't exactly go home empty handed, they had expensive LEGO sets! It's OP's brother who feels cheated out of a PS5 he shouldn't even know in the first place if not for their parents spilling the beans.

It's not surprising to find out that OP's brother is their parents' golden child. He's the favorite because he has kids, hence why they enable everything he does including insulting his own sister.

OP's anger is valid because her own family went against her in her own house. She should take solace in the fact that she made her niece and nephew very happy with the LEGO sets.
