The OP of today's story was having a theme wedding as her family grew up on the seaside and has always been close to the ocean. The OP made it extremely clear to all of her bridesmaids that they were to wear blue, a coral pink color, or pastel green.

One of her bridesmaids, Anna, lost her mom, and she was the light of her life. Anna’s mother always loved the color dark, vibrant purple, and ever since then, Anna has bought everything purple if there was a purple choice.

Anna asked the OP if she could please wear a purple dress to her wedding, but she refused.

The action I took was not letting my bridesmaid wear her mothers favourite colour of dress due to it not fitting my wedding theme.

I may be judged for this because to some it may seem insensitive as losing a parent is one of the worst pains, and that I “could have just let her wear the dress.” In order to avoid all this.

She's got some issues she really needs to work on

OP's friend should have stepped down as a bridesmaid first

It's the OP's wedding, and every invited guest should adhere to the theme of the wedding. As a Redditor pointed out, OP's friend should have stepped down if she really wanted to wear her purple dress so badly.
