Bride-To-Be Freaks Out When She Overhears Her Husband's Groomsman Talking About "Making A Move" On His Potentially Drunk Ex-Girlfriend At Their Wedding

We have biases when it comes to the people we are close to. We are more prone to excuse their questionable and problematic behaviors because of our relationship with them.

It can take another person's input for us to realize how offensive they have been acting. A Redditor was astounded after overhearing a conversation between her husband and his friend.

OP and her husband are in the planning stage of their upcoming wedding. They already held a ceremony at the courthouse to accommodate OP's brother's overseas work schedule.

This upcoming wedding will be for a celebration surrounded by their other friends and family. They already chose their bridesmaids and groomsmen.

One of the groomsmen is her husband's close friend named Dan. OP met her husband through Dan and has been a good friend to them since.

Dan also knows OP's brother, specifically his girlfriend. OP's husband is almost sure that her brother's girlfriend and Dan dated when they were in high school.

Dan was over at their house recently when OP heard an alarming exchange. Dan was talking about OP's brother's girlfriend inappropriately.

OP's husband told Dan to stop talking that way because he was drunk. Dan soldiered on and laid out his plan during the wedding.

He planned to make a move on the brother's girlfriend during OP's wedding

Dan reasoned that everyone will be drinking on that day anyway

OP's husband attempted to stop the vile things coming out of Dan's mouth but OP heard enough

OP talked to her husband and asked him to remove Dan as a groomsman, but he didn't want to because he's trying to avoid any drama. They can't come to a consensus on what to do about the Dan situation.

As his friend and the person who heard the creepy plan, OP's husband needs to the one to stop Dan before he assaults anyone

A drunken offhand, one-time creepy remark warrants a side eye. Multiple instances of objectifying a woman is an alarming pattern.

He's counting on his ex-girlfriend being drunk so he can make a move. If he talks about her this way repeatedly, then it means this plan of his has been brewing for a while.

Dan's invite should be rescinded, in my opinion. However, if he still attends, OP needs to make sure someone is keeping tabs on his every move because he will definitely cross a line.

It shouldn't even be a question, OP. At the very least, you should talk to your brother about it so he can inform his girlfriend.

OP shouldn't even worry about hurting Dan's feelings. She should more worried about the safety and comfort of her brother's girlfriend. She is the targeted would-be victim here.

Correct, now that OP is aware of Dan's plans, she has the moral obligation to inform her brother's girlfriend about it.

They can make rules if they don't disinvite Dan to assure his ex-girlfriend's safety

If he, at any time, make anyone uncomfortable, he should be escorted out of the party

This should be the last thing OP and her husband should be worrying about on their wedding day. Disinviting Dan is the least stressful plan.

Her husband's instant discomfort at confronting his friend doesn't improve the Redditors' opinion of him

He should have been immediately banned from their home. He said disgusting things and his inebriation is not an excuse.

Dan is no longer invited to their wedding, and we collectively breathe a sigh of relief on the ex-girlfriend's behalf. OP did a great job protecting her brother's girlfriend from a creep like Dan, and she can now enjoy her wedding because of it.
