A Redditor's boyfriend took the advice of turning his hobby into a side hustle and ran with it. Unfortunately, he is the last person to realize that his passion is unsustainable.

The OP is a tattoo artist and co-owner of a tattoo/piercing business. They work long hours, commute for 45 minutes each way, and have only one day off, which is often spent doing household chores.

Their boyfriend, on the other hand, is trying to become a successful Twitch streamer and YouTuber. He spends 11 to 13 hours a day streaming while the tattoo artist is at work and has not had a job for the past four years.

He quit his job as a manager years ago and dove in head-first into becoming a Twitch streamer. He thought he would immediately find success in streaming and underestimated just how difficult it would be to monetize his hobby.

OP has tried to discuss their concerns about the boyfriend's lifestyle and lack of contribution to household expenses, but each attempt at a conversation turns into a fight. They recently expressed doubt about the boyfriend's dreams, which led to the boyfriend asking for a break from the relationship.

OP merely asked him to cut back on the hours he spends streaming. He could spend his time with OP, better his health, or maybe help with the upkeep of their home, but he refused to think about any of their suggestions.
