Can you imagine being mad at anyone, let alone a minor, for taking their prescribed medication? If you can't imagine that, then good for you because you are better than the person in this story.

OP is sixteen years old and she has epilepsy. Her condition causes her to have seizures which she has to take her prescriptions for.

Oddly enough, not a lot of people in her life understand what her condition entails except for her dad. OP's parents have been separated for three years.

Her mom has been dating a guy named Jeff who has two kids under the age of 10. Jeff and his kids visit OP and her mom every week.

OP doesn't usually talk to Jeff a lot but this week was different because her mom wanted her to get to know her "future stepsiblings" better. While they were sitting down, OP grabbed her medication which earned her a side eye from Jeff.

He told his kids to go to the other room and asked OP what the hell she did. OP was confused by his intense reaction and didn't know what mistake she possibly could have done.

Jeff said it wasn't okay for OP to take her medicine in front of his kids. OP asked why that was the case and Jeff replied that his kids shouldn't have to see "this stuff."

He told OP that if her medication was so important to her, she can take it in another room

OP looked to her mom for support but she kept quiet. Jeff said the kids were OP's stepsiblings and they shouldn't be exposed to "such sights."

He also said this can't happen when they all start living together as a family. Jeff said OP has to find a better way to deal with her condition.

OP replied that none of that was her problem. OP's mom took her boyfriend's side which overwhelmed OP, forcing her to go to her room.

OP and her mom had another argument once Jeff and his kids left. OP is being forced to apologize to Jeff the next time he visits.

Unless OP was doing illegal drugs in front of the kids, this shouldn't have been a problem

Jeff has proven himself to be an unreliable adult and OP's mom is a sorry excuse of a parent

He's already being this controlling when he's not even married to OP's mom. Even if he was, it doesn't make him OP's stepdad.

If they withhold necessary medication from OP, they are abusing her and endangering her life

OP will never forget this moment when her mom proved she wasn't her priority

It's cruel, idiotic, and dangerous

If OP misses the window to take her medicine, she will be in serious medical danger

Hide OP's medicine? They would probably stop buying the medicines altogether.

OP says she can't live with her dad because he has "stuff" going on

However, he might be the only adult who can protect OP

I have been wracking my brain thinking of reasons how OP could have endangered the two kids by taking her medicine

OP should treat this as a guide to keep herself safe

OP was failed by the adults in her life. She had to resort to seeking the advice of internet strangers to figure out if she did anything wrong when she took her medicine.

What Jeff did was stupidly dangerous for OP's health. The saddest thing was reading about the inactions of OP's mom who was present while her daughter was being harmed.
