Father Calls Daughter A Brat For Getting Upset About A Kid Blowing Out Her Birthday Candles

Typically, this can be a great place if you don't want to ask people around you if you're in the wrong since they can often be biased in some sort.

With this being said, we are diving into this story posted by a dad who called his daughter a brat for being upset about the fact that her niece blew out her birthday candles. However, after hearing the whole story, there is probably more to do with her tears than just the candle situation.

OP starts off by explaining the ages of his kids and how they don't usually do birthday parties for the kids after a certain age (21).

They wanted to have a party for his oldest because she's been going through some things, but the issue happened when her niece blew out her candles.

He said that it was awkward and he told his daughter that she was being a brat because she didn't mean to do anything wrong.

This comment gave us a little more info on this situation that I guess was posted in the comments from OP explaining the situation with his daughter.

A lot of people said that the niece may not have meant to hurt her feelings but she did mean to blow out all the candles, and regardless of her situation, they should apologize.

They continued on assuming a bit about the relationship between the daughter and her parents. We're not sure if this is true but this commenter had a lot to say.

Ultimately, her dad knew exactly what was going on so he should have had more of a soft spot for her during this time.

This is also true too that they should have paid attention to their younger kids to ensure they didn't steal the spotlight.

This person explains just exactly why his daughter reacted this way after her candles were blown out.

He probably did make everything worse for her by calling her out on her actions, because she clearly is going through a lot at the moment and this was the last straw.

This person put it in very simple terms, but basically said she didn't cry over the candles, but mostly over everything else she's going through.

We hope that OP's daughter gets an apology from a few of their family members because she really does need to have some support right now. Going through something tragic is always hard, but then having something else upsetting on top of it can cause her to break, and that's exactly what happened.
