The Black and Red Broadbill is an unmistakable and large bird that is classified as an Asian Broadbill under the Eurylaimidae family, genus Cymbirhynchus. You can find this striking bird in some countries in Asia like Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei and more.
They are mostly found in rainforests and are monogamous in nature. While it enjoys the lowlands, it can also survive disturbed habitats and riversides.
Black and red broadbills prefer habitats near the water because their diet mostly involves aquatic creatures like fish, snails, mollusks and crustaceans.
During the dry season is when the breeding of Broadbills takes place. You will find it's large nests hanging over water to protect their offspring from preys and other things that may affect the breeding process such as moss, fungus and other plant elements.
Broadbills are beautiful, especially the Black and Red Broadbills that display bold and velvety colors including it's blue bill that makes it an outstanding creature of its kind.

Because of its distinct plumage, no one can mistake the Black and Red Broadbill. It is large in size where an adult can reach up to 24cm in length with wings as long as 10.8 cm and weighs up to 65 g.
A fully grown Black and Red Broadbill displays black velvet heads and breastbands. It also has a half-collar in maroon color and a brighter tone in the rumps and upper tail.
The wings also shows streaks of white and an outline of orange. Its tail shows a black dominant color with strips of white, while its bill has a beautiful turquoise color at the top and orange below. This emerald eyed bird is definitely a work of art.
