The Black Cauldron, produced by Walt Disney Pictures, was a huge success when it was released in 1985. However, the film (based on the novel series 'The Chronicles of Prydain'), was never followed by any sequels.
Fans of the books were naturally disappointed that all the novels in the series weren't made into films. There were rumors in 2016 of an impending remake, but still, nothing eventuated.
However, recently there have been reports from influencer, Daniel Richtman, that the company might be developing a live-action version of the film. Even though the details on the film are few, and there is no proof it will ever come to be, fans are excited about the possibility.
The animated film is vastly different from the original novels. But, despite this, it was significantly successful.
Whether or not the rumored live-action version will be as successful remains to be seen. The books and animated film follow the story of Princess Eilonwy of Llyr, and the minstrel Fflewddur, alongside their companion Hen Pen, who can tell the future, and a woodland creature named Gurgi.
The Black Cauldron may not be the only animated Disney film set to be re-imagined. There has already been confirmation that Lilo & Stitch will be remade for release on Disney+.
