As a child, there was nothing I despised more than having to pose for a million different photos with my sibling. Whether it was in a portrait studio or in front of some kind of landmark, having to stand around smiling for photos was low on my list of priorities.
This horror wasn’t just reserved for my family, most families have had similar experiences. Often, the photos didn’t turn out as sweet as our parents visualised. People have started sharing the awkward, yet hilarious, pictures of them and their siblings online so we can all share the pain of family portraits.
"background story: we were 3, my mother and grandmother left us with my Dad and grandpa, who were pouring concrete in the backyard. We were getting into everything, so this was their method of keeping us out of the wet concrete. According to my father there were toys in the cardboard box. My mom was not very happy when she came back, but I thank her for taking a picture of it."
“This is a photo from the final tap dance duet my brother and I did together. It is my deepest hope that he will still speak to me after this is posted. Jazz hands have never looked so profound.”
“In middle school, I was the only girl on the wrestling team. My brother was on it as well and to save money, we decided to take our picture together. I now regret that decision.”
“Every year for swimming my brother and I take a family photo for the team pictures, but this year the crop job and my hair made it look like we were naked.”
