Thanks to her honest but humorous approach to everyday situations, illustrator Jane Zei amassed more than 200,000 followers on social networks. Even though she has never received any formal art training, she wins people over with adorable style and relatable stories.
She was always drawing as a kid to express herself and have fun, and in time, it became her passion. Lucky for us, we have to say.
Her honesty separates her from the crowd, as she subtly points to some problems in society and in ourselves. She finds inspiration in the world around her and in her own experiences.
The Pigeon Gazette series revolves around a nerdy girl who loves playing video games and sometimes has a problem interacting with people. But, she doesn’t let her fears and anxieties stop her from trying to get out there.
She always does her best and hopes for the best. And it could be a lesson to all of us.
Jane says the idea to start The Pigeon Gazette came to her naturally. "It was that classic thing where everyone keeps telling you 'Oh, you should make comics' or 'post your art online,' and I tried a few times."
"I just don't think my artistic skill or comedic timing was where it needed to be because all those past efforts flopped," she added.

The Pigeon Gazette"After a breakup (how cliche!), I had to throw myself into something and tried again. I think finally I was at the right point in my life and the internet/social media was where it had to be because The Pigeon Gazette just took off beyond all expectations."
Jane started the series thinking how great it would be to have a few dozen people who would like her work. And now she has more than 200k people eagerly awaiting new cartoons. A fantastic story that shows how hard work and honesty always pay off.
