Redditor Gets Sick And Tired From Trying To Help Alcoholic Sister, Starts A Heated Argument With Mom

When there is too much alcohol in the bloodstream, areas of the brain that regulate vital processes like breathing, heart rate, and body temperature start to shut down. This condition is known as alcohol poisoning or overdose.

Assuming that someone who is asleep because of alcohol will be okay after sleeping it off is risky. Alcohol has a depressive effect, which interferes with brain impulses that regulate reflex actions like the gag reflex.

Alcohol can also upset the stomach and make you throw up. A person who consumes alcohol to the point of passing out runs the risk of choking if they lack the gag reflex.

When someone chokes on their own vomit or breathes it in, this could result in death. A consumer who overdoses on alcohol risks permanent brain damage, even if they live.

Meet u/[deleted], whose sister was hospitalized for an alcohol overdose. She made it out alive, but she continued her old ways despite all that happened and still continued to drink her life away.

The OP called in to check on her but was rained insults instead and asked to mind her business. The OP also noted that she and her mom have tried on numerous occasions to help her sister, but she always turned them down, and now she has had it.

She told her mom about her decision but was shocked at the reply she got.

Redditors agreed that the OP telling her mom those words was a bad idea as no one wants their kid to die or to think about that happening. So having someone shove that in their face when there is nothing you can do to stop it makes one feel powerless, and it sucks.

The OP got the "not the AH" verdict, and we would love to hear your own opinion as well. Drop them in the comments below and share this post as well.
