Redditor's Husband Upset After She Bought Things For Her Cousin's Baby That Was Conceived During An Affair

Cheating is a situation that happens more than people like to admit. Most of the time, it doesn't result in a pregnancy, but sometimes it does.

The child should usually be considered the only innocent party in the whole experience. However, their sole existence can sometimes be a constant reminder of the affair, which can make recovery quite difficult.

People can sometimes lift themselves out of a very narrow focus on the pain the affair has caused and expand their considerations to do what is best for the child. Mistakes have been made, but the child who resulted from that mistake should not suffer unnecessarily. 

The mistake itself cannot be undone, but people should at least not make more mistakes afterward. The children are always innocent in these situations.

A Redditor who goes by the username u/pinkrya made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole subReddit where she explained how she helped her cousin out after getting pregnant from an affair. Op's husband got mad at her for helping since she cheated with his sister's husband.

OP did the right thing by supporting her cousin.

Both the cousin and the cheating husband should share the blame.

Everyone assumes that because she's a woman.

Everyone sucks here except for the married man's wife, who's clearly the victim.

A child should not be blamed for their parent's mistakes.

Why is the baby's father not helping as well?

The husband is equally as guilty as the cousin.

The husband wanted to punish an infant for something they didn't choose.

It's not a good look to do that behind your husband's back.

OP's marriage can be impacted because of this.

The husband will be resentful towards OP because of this.

Why does no one have any empathy for the woman whose husband cheated on her?

It's OP's money too. That's how marriages work.

OP should have consulted with her husband first.

OP did the right thing by helping her cousin. The father doesn't seem to be in the picture, and punishing an infant who never chose to be part of this is simply immoral.
