The note read, “Please can you take me in as my owner has abandoned me after ten years because I have not learned to be good, so I have been returned here where he found me.”

People can learn so much from dogs, and dogs are constantly trying to teach us their ways of dog wisdom and dog purity. One of the most important lessons dogs can teach all of us is about love and abandonment.

But obviously, we are not paying attention to our wise doggo frens. How else could you explain what happened in front of Jasmil Kennels in Upchurch near Sittingbourne, Kent?

An elderly Labrador Retriever Dog was found tied to their gate by the staff of Swale Borough Council Stray Dog Service. They shared the dog's pictures on Facebook in an attempt to find the owner.

But what made everyone shake their heads in disbelief was the note found next to the poor dog. It said: “Please can you take me in as my owner has abandoned me after ten years because I have not learned to be good, so I have been returned here where he found me.”

Fortunately, the Swale Dog Service soon shared an update revealing that the dog’s owner was found and his extended family, who “know and love the dog,” will be adopting him.

This poor old dog was found dumped with a cruel note in which the previous owner tried to justify his unbelievable actions.

Rebecca Dart, the communications officer at Swale Borough Council, said, “It is rare that we find abandoned dogs in Swale as we try to proactively work with owners to find other solutions.”

The dog was not neglected, he was happy and healthy. “He is around 14 or 15 and is doing well for his age,” Rebecca said.

Because the Council keeps its contacts and social media accounts active, they can often find reunite lost dogs and their owners. Still, “Abandoned dogs can be trickier, but we have had some success in finding owners in the past.”

The main motivation for doing so is to “better understand the situation that led them to abandon the dogs.” Rebecca revealed that among many different motives for abandoning dogs, financial difficulties stand out as a frequent factor, “mounting vet bills, or due to personal circumstances,” she explained.

Here is how people reacted:

Respectably, with more criticism towards the human than the dog.

Here is how people reacted:

While others gave the human credit for abandoning the dog in a place the dog would be safe.

And some people even worried for the dog's previous owner.

Some people even discouraged judging the dog's previous owner!

While plenty of people were just glad the dog is safe.

Indeed, who could walk away from a dog you've loved and cared for ten years?

It is very sad.
