Elephants are the largest land animals in the world, but their massive size doesn't make them scary. We bet you couldn't find a person in the world who doesn't like elephants.

We all love seeing them even in photos. But some of us are lucky enough to see them in person. This is the incredible moment a massive herd of over 50 elephants stopped traffic to cross a highway in Thailand.

These gorgeous creatures were gently crossing the road, and drivers were in awe of what they were witnessing. After the elephant family had been located earlier that day by a squad of park rangers, a police force was sent to the area to ensure that they would arrive in the bush securely.

One of the drivers managed to get a picture of the amazing spectacle! The herd quickly proceeded to cross the road.

The elephants crossed across to the opposite side of the road and into a wilderness region in less than 40 seconds, guided by their powerful matriarch. The elephant family, including young calves, gave the people that gathered there, a sight to behold.

After keeping an eye on the elephants for a few days, wildlife officials and park rangers concluded their only option was to cross the road, so they immediately alerted the appropriate authorities to ensure everyone's safety.

Early in the 20th century, it was estimated that there were 100,000 captive or farmed elephants and roughly 300,000 wild elephants in the woods of Thailand. Since then, those numbers have drastically decreased.

Approximately 6,000 elephants are estimated to still exist in Thailand today, with half of them being wild. That's why we need to protect each and every one of them.
