Photographic Artist Uses 3D Imagery To Show Us What Famous Historical Figures Really Looked Like

Have you ever played 'Chinese Whispers'? The game were you sit in a circle with a bunch of people and one person whispers something in the ear of the person next to them.

That person then repeats it to the next person and it is repeated person by person until the message reaches the original person who made it up. Typically, it is completely different to the original message.

That's pretty much how the representation of historical figures has been passed down to us through the years. Before cameras, we relied on artist interpretations.

Then another artist's interoperation of the first interpretation and on and on it went. As a result, we can't place much relevance on what historical figured actually looked like based on images we see now, as it is pretty normal for things to be skewed over the years.

Bas Uterwijk, a very talented photographer from Amsterdam, has used computer graphics, 3D animation, and special effects to build facial structures of famous historical figures in order to give us a better idea of what they truly looked like.
